Vessels specially designed to navigate through ice, managers who understand their clients' specific needs, crews accustomed to the harshest sea conditions, and special unloading techniques, Desgagnés Transarctik, a
Groupe Desgagnés
subsidiary that has been operating in the Eastern Canadian Arctic for over 40 years.
Serving Nunavik
Desgagnés Transarctik is the busiest shipping firm in the Northern Québec. From July to October, the regular trips supply over
14 Inuit communities with a variety of goods.
Nunavik landscape extends North of 55th parallel: it is exposed to strong winds velocity, which is increased by the absence of trees and a temperature oscillating around 12
o
C during the few warm days of the short arctic summers. The fleet of vessels supplying these communities is specially designed for navigation through ice. The highly qualified crew as well as the experienced administrative personnel ensure the quality and the reliability of the service.
Desgagnés Transarctik, in partnership with
NSSI
has signed an agreement with the
Government of Nunavut
to provide regular shipping services from July to October to a part of the territory.
Supplying Nunavut
Desgagnés Transarctik, in partnership with
Nunavut Sealink and Supply (NSSI) Inc.
provides shipping services in order to resupply a part of the Nunavut. The crew expertise and the specialized equipment allow Desgagnés Transarctik to ensure safe and high-quality transport services in these regions, which seldom have port facilities.
Newfoundland and Labrador region
Desgagnés Transarctik is also active in Newfoundland and Labrador region for shipping various goods intended for mining and building development projects.
In compliance with the rules and regulations concerning dangerous goods, which came into effect on August 15, 2002, Desgagnés Transarctik is not authorized to transport dangerous goods if the declaration is not duly completed or if these goods are not packed according to the IMDG Code.
